Description
Laurie Maves Guglielmi often studies her favorite artists from history and paints their portrait, as well as attempts to paint in the style of that particular artist. She has done this with Frida Kahlo, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, and Gustav Klimt. In 2019 and 2020, Laurie made a number of paintings referencing the works of Vincent vanGogh. She found his repetitive style of the layering of brushstrokes laden with rich color was very soothing and stress reducing. In this way, Laurie combines and enjoys the creative process of painting with the therapeutic process of art as therapy.
