Laurie Maves is a long time admirer of Italian Modern artist, Amedeo Modigliani. The abstractions of facial features & elongated necks are prevalent in her figurative works. This series on paper allows Maves to explore Modigliani's classic figures, while adding her own contemporary touches.
Recently relocating from the Rocky Mountain state of Colorado, to the turquoise waters & neon colors of South Florida, a major & significant change in the artist's residential point of view has been systematically documented in this ongoing series simply called "Migration,"
