DescriptionAn intuitive abstract oil painting on canvas created from the mood of 2020 by Laurie Maves ART in her Sarasota, FL, based studio. Created during the spring of 2020 and at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, this painting was an experiment in working with oil media. I always said I would save the practice of "oil painting," for when I retired from acrylic painting. The COVID pandemic forced a temporary closure of my teaching studio, so I took the opportunity to try a new media. I figured if the world was coming to an end, that I may not get to retire from acrylic painting after all, so I'd better get busy learning what there is to learn about oil paint. We were all suffering then, health wise, mental health wise, race wise. The news seemed more than confusing and one sided, no matter what channel you turned on the tv.
